HR Alert! Will your employee leave this year? Albinora finds out

Dubai, January 30, 2008 - Three out of seven employees are actively considering leaving their current employer within the next twelve months, according to new research by Albinora.
Albinora’s survey identified the main reasons included a lack of personal development, uncertainty with career progression and a poor working relationship with their superior.
"The findings were a clear contrast to the conventional reasons that are typically transpired from employees, which include higher remuneration expectations and additional package benefits," said Samantha Williams, Head of HR Consulting, Albinora. "HR heads and other key management personnel need to realize these factors so they could accordingly develop retention strategies that can counter this trend.”
The survey, which combined the views of over 2,400 employees, challenges the effectiveness of providing traditional rewards. It portrayed that there is no direct relation of employee attrition with material rewards and in contrast reflected other elements, which influenced employee behaviors and commitment that included non-financial benefits such as strong career development, management support and a pay structure aligned with individual performance.

"Key HR issues facing organizations in the future are employment cost control measures and skills shortages, which is not the same as labor shortages," said Samantha Williams. "Reflecting on these issues, the most predominant reward objectives are performance based packages, maintaining reward costs and the encouragement of career progression & leadership. The retention strategies of high performers will most likely be a primary goal in the coming years for departmental heads, which will demand more innovative approaches needed to attract and retain these individuals.”
